The Visit of ADDA Chairman to Vietnam

ADDA Chairman, Søren Thorndal Jørgensen, had a busy working trip in Vietnam from November 27 to 29, 2013. The major objectives of the visit were to reinforce the cooperation with ADDA partners in Vietnam and observe the activities of ADDA at the grassroots level.

Right after arriving at Hanoi, the Chairman had a warm meeting with staffs of ADDA Office, in which the two sides briefly presented the current situation of ADDA projects in Vietnam and news from ADDA in Denmark. Moreover, Søren visited a Farmer Interest Group in Ky Son District, Hoa Binh Province, which is being supported by the project "Strengthening the capacity of farmer interest groups of ethnic minorities in Hoa Binh Province". During the discussion with farmers, he shared his experiences when working with farmer groups and the cooperative movement of farmers in Denmark in the past. He further oriented the principles of sustainable farmer groups, which included independence, voluntary, equality, and being based on mutual benefits.

To complete the tight working programme, ADDA Chairman and the President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong, had a meeting, mainly for the sake of reviewing 15 years of cooperation and searching for potential opportunities in the future. The two sides agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation partnership in developing and implementing ADDA projects in the period of 2015-2020.
